Here is the information on how the CMS Election Process for choosing next year’s Student Body Officers. This also includes information on how 7th graders can apply to become a member of the student government for Centennial next year. 

The Student Body Officer Election process is the same for our 8th Grade SBO’s here at Centennial and the 9th grade SBO’s at Timpview. For those interested in becoming one of the 6 Student Body Officers as an 8th grader here at CMS or one of the 3 Freshman Student Body Officers at Timpview next year, please read through the following information. 

The election process is broken up into 3 steps. 

1. Nominations:

Students are allowed to nominate any of their peers who they believe will do a good job as an SBO’s for the next school. They are also welcome to nominate themselves. 7th graders are only allowed to nominate fellow 7th graders for a CMS SBO position. 8th graders are only allowed to nominate fellow 8th graders for Freshman SBO. Every student who receives at least 1 nomination will move onto step # 2. 

All students were emailed the nomination form for their grade on Monday, April 17 and should be filling it out during plus time this week till Wednesday, April 19 by 5:00 pm. 

2. Endorsements:

The entire nomination list will be sent to our faculty who are allowed to endorse up to 6 candidates for Centennial SBO’s and 3 candidates for Freshman Representatives, as well as give feedback for any student. The Candidates who receive 5 or more faculty endorsements will move onto step # 3. 

3. Applications: 

Only the candidates who received 5 or more faculty endorsements will be sent a note on Monday, April 24 during 5B to come to a brief meeting and be invited to apply. They will be given access to the application for student body officer, and sign up for an interview time. The interviews will be conducted by the Student Government Advisors and the Administration. 

After reading the applications and all interviews, the student government advisors and administration then choose who will be the 8th grade SBO’s, Freshman SBO’s and which office those individuals will hold. 

Any student who is interested in becoming a member of the student government needs to run for office in one of the 5 main organizations here at CMS. Those organizations are Student Body Officers, Latinos in Action, Hope Squad, National Junior Honor Society and Kindness Club. Our student government is only made up of officers from those organizations and a student can only represent one organization in an officer capacity. 

You will need to reach out to the advisors of those organizations for questions on how elections of the officer positions work.

Aquí está la información sobre cómo el proceso de elección de CMS para elegir a los oficiales del cuerpo estudiantil del próximo año. Esto también incluye información sobre cómo los estudiantes de 7 º grado pueden aplicar para convertirse en un miembro del gobierno estudiantil de Centennial el próximo año.

El proceso de elección de los oficiales del cuerpo estudiantil es el mismo para nuestro 8 º grado SBO aquí en Centennial y el 9 º grado SBO en Timpview. Para aquellos interesados en convertirse en uno de los 6 oficiales del cuerpo estudiantil como un estudiante de 8 º grado aquí en CMS o uno de los 3 oficiales del cuerpo estudiantil de primer año en Timpview el próximo año, por favor lea la siguiente información.

El proceso electoral se divide en 3 etapas.

1. Nominaciones:

Los estudiantes pueden nominar a cualquiera de sus compañeros que crean que hará un buen trabajo como SBO para la próxima escuela. También pueden nominarse a sí mismos. Los alumnos de 7º grado sólo pueden nominar a compañeros de 7º grado para un puesto de SBO de CMS. Los alumnos de 8º grado sólo pueden nominar a sus compañeros de 8º grado para el puesto de SBO de primer año. Cada estudiante que reciba al menos 1 nominación pasará al paso # 2.

Todos los estudiantes recibieron por correo electrónico el formulario de nominación para su grado el lunes 17 de abril y deberán rellenarlo durante el tiempo extra de esta semana hasta el miércoles 19 de abril a las 5:00 pm.

2. Avalos:

Toda la lista de nominaciones se enviará a nuestro profesorado, que podrá respaldar hasta a 6 candidatos para Centennial SBO’s y a 3 candidatos para Freshman Representatives, así como dar su opinión sobre cualquier estudiante. Los candidatos que reciban 5 o más apoyos del profesorado pasarán al paso nº 3.

3. Aplicaciones:

Sólo a los candidatos que hayan recibido 5 o más apoyos del profesorado se les enviará una nota el lunes 24 de abril durante el 5B para que acudan a una breve reunión y se les invite a presentar su candidatura. Se les dará acceso a la aplicación para oficial del cuerpo estudiantil, y se inscribirán para una hora de entrevista. Las entrevistas serán conducidas por los consejeros del gobierno estudiantil y la administración.

Después de leer las solicitudes y todas las entrevistas, los consejeros del gobierno estudiantil y la administración eligen quiénes serán los SBO de 8º grado, los SBO de primer año y qué cargo ocuparán.

Cualquier estudiante que esté interesado en convertirse en un miembro del gobierno estudiantil tiene que postularse para un cargo en una de las 5 organizaciones principales aquí en CMS. Estas organizaciones son: Oficiales del Cuerpo Estudiantil, Latinos en Acción, Hope Squad, National Junior Honor Society y Kindness Club. Nuestro gobierno estudiantil sólo se compone de funcionarios de esas organizaciones y un estudiante sólo puede representar a una organización en calidad de oficial.

Tendrás que ponerte en contacto con los asesores de esas organizaciones para preguntarles cómo funcionan las elecciones de los cargos directivos.
