Halloween Costume Guidelines:

We love Halloween and the amazing costumes our students wear! Please keep the following guidelines in mind when you are dressing for school on October 31.

  • School Dress Code still applies No extreme makeup-we need to be able to tell who you are No masks No weapons (even fake ones) of any kind-this includes knives, bows and arrows etc.

A Statement from elected parent members of CMS Community Council:

Every Utah public school student, including those attending charter schools, receives annual education funding through School LAND Trust Distributions from the $3.3 billion Permanent State School Fund. With a 4% distribution cap in place this school year, Utah schools received $106 million in trust distributions. Amendment B proposes to increase the cap on distributions from 4% to 5%, increasing annual distributions by approximately 13% or $14 million. Raising the cap from 4% to 5% costs taxpayers nothing, it simply increases the cap on distributions from the permanent public education endowment.” (Utah Land Trust Protection and Advocacy Office)

Centennial Middle School’s Community Council encourages voters to read and understand Amendment B on this year’s ballot, consider the proposal’s benefits and drawbacks, and then vote. For more information, visit: https://vote.utah.gov/ https://ballotpedia.org/Utah_Amendment_B

Prop Hall Sale:

On Friday October 25 come to our Prop Hall Sale. Come get a cheap Halloween Costume or some clothing, fabric props or more! It will be from 1:00 to 4:00 PM on the South side of the school by the dumpsters. All proceeds go to the NYC Theater Trip in April.

School Fees

School fees must be paid as soon as possible. Fee Waiver Applications were due September 15. Pre-pay for this year’s yearbook. $30. Send payment with your student, pay online or by phone with a credit card.

Yearbooks:

Yearbooks are for sale in the Financial Office. Your student can see if they have already purchased one by looking on the bulletin board outside the Main Office. If you wish to purchase one they are $30.

Attendance:

In order to minimize traffic through the office we are asking that you do not bring your student in to the school when you are dropping them off. Please drop them off and then email or call our attendance secretary Emma Cervantes to excuse them. Her email address is cmsattendance@provo.edu

If your student has a doctor, dentist or orthodontist appointment first thing in the morning (8:30 or earlier) we are asking that you not send them to school until after their appointment.

When you are checking out a student please only have one person come in the school to check them out. Please be prepared and have your government issued ID ready to show, and that the person who is coming is on their Emergency Contact Form or that you have emailed or called in advance to let us know who will be picking your student up.

PTA:

Casey Gifford (one of our wonderful math teachers) is in need of a Spanish speaking volunteer to help a few students in his class. If you’re interested, please email Mrs. Midgley (triciam@provo.edu).

If you’re interested in serving on the school’s safety committee, please let us know (you can respond to this email). You’d be working with the administration on evacuation plans, fire drills, reunification plans, etc.
