Requirements for Student Government Positions

Timpview High School Freshman Officers (9th graders)

  • must maintain/currently have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

  • must show exemplary attendance. Those with excessive tardies and/or unexcused absences may be asked not to run for an elected position.

  • must be a full-time Timpview student (enrolled in eight classes, including release period) during the year of service.

  • must attend mandatory meetings listed on the application, including one week during the summer for leadership training. Dates include:

    • Mandatory elections meeting (March 26)

    • Applications due (April 13)

    • Elections week (April 23-27)

Centennial Middle School Student Body Officers (8th graders)

  • must have a 3.5 cumulative GPA and must be passing all classes at time of application. Student Body Officers must maintain a B or higher in all classes during the year while serving as an officer.

  • must show exemplary behavior and attendance. To apply, students may only have one lunch detention per term; this must be maintained while serving.

  • must be a full-time Centennial student (enrolled in ten classes) during the year of service.

  • must attend mandatory meetings as listed on the application, including one week in July for Dixie Leadership Retreat and one Friday evening in January for school leadership retreat. Dates include:

    • Mandatory elections meeting for those running for elected office (March 26)

    • Applications due for elected office (April 13)

    • Possible interviews for elected office (April 19-20)

    • Elections week (April 23-27)

    • Applications available for appointed offices (April 30)

    • Applications due for appointed offices (May 7)

    • Screening activity for appointed offices (May 8)

Centennial Middle School Student Council Members (7th and 8th graders)

  • must have a 2.0 cumulative GPA and must be passing all classes at time of application. Student Council members must be passing all classes at the end of each term during the semester while serving on the council.

  • must show exemplary behavior and attendance. To apply, students may only have one lunch detention per term; this must be maintained while serving.

  • must be enrolled in at least 8 classes during the semester of service.

  • must attend mandatory meetings as listed on the application, including one Friday evening in January for school leadership retreat. Dates include:

    • Applications available for second semester (November 20)

    • Applications due for second semester (December 1)

    • Possible interviews for second semester (December 8)

    • Leadership retreat 2018 (January 5)

    • Applications available for first semester of next school year (April 30)

    • Applications due for first semester of next school year (May 14)

    • Possible interviews for first semester of next school year (May 17-18)
